Originally from Maryland, Newcomer-Johnson has dedicated her career to exploring and understanding how humans can live sustainably within their environment. She is currently researching how sustainability can be incorporated into planning and preparing for climate change impacts. This study, published in February of 2016 explores the suggestion that that hydrologically restoring streams and rivers in agricultural and urban watersheds has potential to increase N and P retention, through a meta-analysis of 79 studies.
